Kinky looking at Governor's race as Democrat

Kinky eyes second attempt as Democrat

He's still the cigar-smoking Jewish cowboy from Texas, and he still wants to be governor. After the 2008 presidential election, former gubernatorial candidate Kinky Friedman (Photo from Kinky website) said he'll consider running for governor as a Democrat in 2010.

Friedman said he needs the Democratic Party to win, and Democrats need the death penalty abolished. After losing as an independent candidate in 2006, Friedman said it's not possible to be elected as an independent.

"I'm a Molly Ivins Democrat, an Ann Richards Democrat, a JFK Democrat," he said. "I don't think God could have beaten Rick Perry last time had he run as an independent."
