Dear Friends,

Now that City Council is back in session, I plan to provide you with regular updates on key policy decisions that impact our community.Last week, there were two notable events that highlighted the changing face of San Antonio's economic landscape. First, on Monday, I helped welcome Microsoft officials to town and commemorated the groundbreaking oftheir high-tech data center in Westover Hills on the city's far northwest side.

Then, on Thursday, Council approved an agreement with the City of Windcrest to pave the way for Rackspace (a homegrown tech company) to update, renovate and then move their corporate headquarters into the old Windsor Park Mall facility...a move that will undoubtedly help transform the northeast side of San Antonio.Budget talks also continue throughout the month of August.

Our second Budget Town Hall Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 30 at St. Mary's University. Please click the link above for details.

As a reminder, Tuesday, Aug. 7, is National Night Out. I look forward to seeing many of you at neighborhood events and block parties. Members of my staff will also be coming by to hand out goodie bags courtesy of my Council office, and the good folks at CPS and SAWS. We hope to see you on Tuesday evening!
