Dress For Success Week-March 11-17

Dress for Success San Antonio celebrates SOS –Send One Suit-Week, March 11-17th

Non-Profit Organization Urges You to Help Local Women Gain Employment and Become Self-Sufficient

Dress for Success San Antonio is sending an urgent S.O.S. to women in the community: donate one new or nearly new interview suit or professional attire during the week of March 11-17 and help a local, low-income woman enter the workforce.

“A donation of just one suit can empower a woman struggling in a low-income situation to start a new life of self-sufficiency and success,” said Pamela Taylor, CEO/Executive Director of Dress for Success San Antonio, an affiliate of the international not-for-profit organization that provides interview suits, confidence boosts and career development to women in need. S.O.S. - Send One Suit - Week is an annual promotion that coincides with Women’s History Month and is designed to raise awareness and funds for Dress for Success affiliates around the world.

Dressbarn, one of America’s premier specialty retailers of women’s career and casual fashions is the national drop-off site for S.O.S. – Send One Suit - Week. With more than 800 stores, dressbarn will offer special rewards for anyone who brings in their donation of a new or gently used interview-appropriate suit during this special week. This annual call-to-action campaign was formerly known as “Clean Your Closet Week™.” The new focus on “sending one suit” symbolizes the organization’s need to collect only garments appropriate for job interviews. A suit donation represents just the first step towards self-sufficiency, according to Taylor.

Once a woman is employed, she receives ongoing career development from the affiliate, including professional seminars, networking support and the Professional Women’s Group, Dress for Success’ nationally recognized employment retention program.

Since Dress for Success San Antonio launched in 2000, the organization has reached more than 2,100 economically disadvantaged women from the area with programs for financial and social development, encouraging self-sufficiency through career development services.
