Congressman Rodriguez is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, which yesterday passed a $124 billion supplemental bill (36-28) that includes the $3.1 billion for Base Realignment and Closure commission (BRAC). The full House is expected to vote on the bill next week.

When: 10 a.m., Saturday, March 17th

Where: The Chamber's downtown headquarters building, 602 E. Commerce

Attendees: In addition to Congressman Rodriguez, attendees include Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, Councilman Richard Perez, tri-chair of the Military Transformation Task Force, Chamber President and CEO Joe Krier, Bob Murdock, City - Director of Military Transformation, Bill Mock, Chamber Sr. VP for Administration & Personnel, & Marcel Johnson, Chamber VP for Economic Development.

Key Info: The San Antonio projects would bring more than 10,000 new employees and almost $2 billion in new construction to Ft. Sam Houston, making San Antonio the home of all military medical training. At the time the funds were cut, Chamber President and CEO Joe Krier called it potentially one of the most disastrous actions Congress has taken in 20 years. "This funding must be restored and we're calling on Congress to get it fixed NOW," said Krier.
