Although she didn’t win a Grammy at this year’s 49th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, local singer and San Antonio native Rebecca Valadez was the only woman nominated for Best Tejano Album. Her friend Chente Barrera, took the top honors.

Valadez' credits include two Latin Grammys as lead singer with Grupo Mazz. She also toured with Janet Jackson and recorded with Selena, the only female Tejano singer to win an American Grammy.

SA Publicist Diana Arevalo & Rebecca’s mother, Sandy, traveled to LA with the Tejano recording artist for the awards ceremony.

Interviewed by numerous radio stations in the US, Valadez attended the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. She will continue to promote her recent CD.

Valadez was featured in the Culturas Section by reporter Ramiro Burr of the Express-News in the February 11th Sunday edition.
