Rodriguez Calls on President Bush to Embrace Recommendations of Bi-Partisan Iraq Study Group

San Antonio - Ciro D. Rodriguez, Democratic Candidate for Texas ’ 23rd Congressional District, called on President George W. Bush and Republican Congressman Henry Bonilla to endorse the findings of the bi-partisan Iraq Study Group.

The report released today by former Secretary of State James A. Baker III and former Democratic Congressman Lee Hamilton lays out 79 recommendations for dealing with the War in Iraq.

“It is clear that we need a new approach in Iraq and President Bush has an opportunity to lead today by endorsing the findings of the bipartisan commission,” said Rodriguez.

“Today’s report is confirmation that the President’s stay-the-course strategy, the same strategy supported by my opponent, is not working, and it is time to put aside partisan politics. I look forward to continuing my record of working with Democrats and Republicans alike to bring change to the failed War in Iraq and the misguided priorities in Washington,” said Ciro Rodriguez.
