Non-Partisan Veterans and Military Families Organization Endorses Ciro Rodriguez, Cite His Strong Commitment to Veterans Issues

San Antonio – Today, Ciro D. Rodriguez, Democratic Candidate for Texas ’ 23rd Congressional District, proudly accepted The Veterans and Military Families for Progress endorsement.

“I am honored and humbled to receive such an endorsement,” said Ciro Rodriguez. “Our veterans fought hard for us and I feel a strong obligation to fight for them. I have always placed our veterans as a top priority and will continue to do so when elected to serve.”

Below is the official release from The Veterans and Military Families for Progress:

The Veterans and Military Families for Progress organization (
www.vmfp.org) - which is dedicated to ensuring that the rights and needs of veterans, active-duty service members, and their families are understood by the American public, endorsed by our elected officials, and protected by legislation, regulation and public policy initiatives - proudly and enthusiastically endorses Ciro Rodriguez in the Texas 23rd Congressional District runoff election.

Rodriguez’s service to our country cannot be questioned. As a former three-term Congressman, Ciro served on the House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee that fought to maintain benefits for veterans when opponents sought to cut them.

His strong commitment to the issues critical to veterans, actively serving members and their families is unsurpassed. His public support for mandatory full funding of the Veterans Administration and his declared determination to fight for Concurrent Receipt of Pension and Disability give veterans and their families hope that at long last a Congressman will vote in such a way as to keep faith with those who have served and sacrificed.

Rodriguez’s decision to push for the passage of a 21st century GI Bill, and his deep understanding of the need for providing and guaranteeing full Health Coverage for National Guard and Reserve personnel, demonstrate that he is a candidate who has the character and courage to do what is right for the defenders of America ’s freedom.

We feel veterans, active duty, military families, and in fact, all people of Texas will be well-served with Rodriguez as their representative by ensuring America remains strong in national defense and fighting terrorism.

Veterans and Military Families for Progress is a 501(c)(4) organization headquartered in Washington , D.C.
