San Antonio, TX - 9:15 pm Friday-Nov. 3rd
It was a carnival atmosphere in San Antonio Friday night.
Standing tall by his wife's side on a stage in front of every Democratic candidate and elected official in Bexar County, Chris Bell looked out over several hundred supporters assembled on the bank of Woodlawn Park Lake in the middle of town.
“We’re Democrats, folks. And when we come together on Tuesday, we’re gonna say ‘Adios Mofo’ to Rick Perry!” Definitely the best line of the night.
Most among the throngs—that’s the word, throngs—that gathered on this flawless November night to hear their next governor speak were dressed in full Bell regalia and eating on turkey legs and nachos.
“Rick Perry says that the TAKS test is a preamble to a successful career. Well my friends, Rick Perry himself never took the TAKS test…(delayed laughter)” Second best line.
Biggest rally of the tour, the best energy of any crowd, the most momentum this campaign has ever had, and we’re gonna carry it over the weekend into Election Day.
The icing on the cake tonight was Chris leading the crowd in a recitation of "The Eyes of Texas." That put it over the edge for this particular staffer. Greatest event ever.
