“We love a good joke as much as the next guy, but we’re sorry, Kinky we just can’t.” Esquire.

AUSTIN—Esquire Magazine, the national men’s lifestyle monthly renowned for its celebrated literary tradition and devotion to all things sophisticated, has endorsed Chris Bell for Texas governor.

The endorsement comes in their November 2006 issue, which also endorses Scarlett Johansson as the "Sexiest Woman Alive."

The editors of Esquire, who describe their publication as “required reading for the man who is intellectually curious and socially aware,” issued their choices for the best candidates in each of the 504 House, Senate, and governor’s races in the country, and Chris Bell is their pick in the Texas governor’s race.

From “Esquire Endorses America ”:

“TEXAS GOVERNOR - We love a good joke as much as the next guy, but we’re sorry, Kinky we just can’t. How to describe the incumbent, Rick Perry? We’ve got it: Not as smart as George W. Bush but much better hair.

"Our pick for the excellent people of Texas is the former congressman who had the guts to get the ethics investigation of Tom DeLay started."

"We are pleased to have the backing of such a renowned national publication as Esquire. My condolences to Governor Perry for not winning the endorsement of the top lifestyle magazine for well-dressed men everywhere, and to Carole Strayhorn for losing to Scarlett Johanssen,” said Bell spokeswoman Heather Guntert.

  1. Right-on, Esquire! You got my man!
Chris Bell! Quiet, savvy, sincere! He's what we need for Texas, someone who's really got the moxey to straighten out the mess Republicans, including Strayhorn, have gotten us into! No more hairdo boy! No more absurd one-liners from Kinky! No more empty promises from "Grandma." Let's get serious! Chris Bell is the only sane answer for Governor of Texas!
