NE Bexar County Democrats meet Aug. 5th



The Northeast Bexar County Democrats met at Luby's Cafeteria on Nachadoches, Satudray, Aug. 5th to hear Congressional District 23 candidate Rick Bolanos speak. Unfortunately he was unable to attend due to excessive flooding in El Paso.

SDEC25 Committe Woman Zada True-Courage shared the details of the re-districting that affects five separate congressional districts.

District 23 was affected the most. Nearly 100-thousand Hispanics to include a larger part of the Southside was reinstated into the 23rd.

True-Courage also pointed out that a new deadline of August 25th is in place to allow anyone who wishes to run for Congress to do so. The March primaries were vacated and allows for an open race of both Republicans and Democrats for the special election.

She also pointed out that if no candidate received 50 percent plus one, a run-off would be set for December 7th.

NE Chair Ian Straus reminded members that the NE Bexar County Democrats were hosting an open house of the NE Coordinated Campaign Headquarters at 8107 Broadway from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, August 6th.

He also reminded members there was CEC meeting at the Amalgamated Transit Union Headquarters (ATU) 1901 North Flores, at 7 p.m.,Tuesday evening, August 8th.

Elected officials and candidates who attended, included: Judge Andy Mireles, Commissioner Tommy Adkisson, Balcones Heights Councilman Steve Walker, Rep. for the Poor; Le Lowry, Larry Stallings;, State Rep. candidate, Judicial candidates Larry Noll and Carlton Spears and Connie De Luna, Democratic Leadership Council, (DLC) chair.
