Judge Rickoff sons arrested for drugs, drag racing

SA Lightning Commentary
by R.G. Griffing

As first reported in the Lightning, Bexar Probate Judge Tom Rickhoff is steaming over the escapades of his sons, Fritz and Franz, both in their twenties, following their Friday morning arrest for street racing and pot possession.

The Express-News will likely bury this story, and as of Friday had not reported it.

Blanco RD and Loop 1604 after 2AM.

Fast Franz and Furious Fritz had bonded out as of early Friday. $1,000 each for racing. Fritz is under an additional bond of $1,000 for pot possession, Judge-Daddy Rickhoff took a vacation day and was unavalable for comment.

Franz is reportedly attending (or was) a law enforcement academy, and Fritz, a recent college grad, is set to go "overseas."

The timing of the Rickhoff "Smoke em if you got em" Grand Prix is unfortunate.

Judge Rickhoff is up for reelection, Probate 2, and younger members of his own party call him a "RINO" --Republican in name only-- placing him in the "Good-Old Boys" category.

Now is a perfect chance for fellow Republican DA Susan Reed to follow up on her tough talk and public crusade to deal harshly with racing in her jurisdiction.

The Lightning offers free space for all mentioned in this story to respond.
