With less than 30 minutes left in 2007, Walker Report wishes everyone a prosperous year in 2008. We look forward to covering all the up coming events that we are informed about. We ask you to send us your information ahead of time so that we can promote your happening.

Be it of religious nature, a sports event, a neighborhood association meeting, a school related happening, a political fundraiser, a late breaking story, birthday, graduation, an old fashioned party, an awards gala, special honor, anniversary, or whatever, let us know and we will cover it if possible. If not, you take the photos and send them to us and we will post your photos.

A constant reminder on photos. Get close up (closer the better) so we can actually see who is being photographed. We want to see pearly whites and wide grins! No photos of drinks or cigarettes showing, and no gotcha shots. As we continually point out, we are a family blog and children do check out the Walker Report. We are committed to that concept as our four person staff includes a retired teacher with grand kids, an active current teacher raising a grand daughter, a father of two young daughters who view the blog and one former student of the retired teacher who embraces family values. We take no prisoners on that point.

Again, Happy New Year.

Happy New Year!!!

In early 1865, shortly following his swearing-in to his second term as President of the United States, President Abraham Lincoln was asked to reflect on his legacy. This of a man who had freed the slaves, fought the Confederate Army and won, and was looking ahead to bringing a divided nation back together.

Abraham Lincoln had lost more political races than he had ever won. He had faced personal tragedy immeasurable for most that had held that office. And he had presided over a war that tore a still young nation apart. He was now asked to define his legacy. He told the reporter that he preferred to leave the writing of his legacy to historians fifty years into the future.

He did say though that he wished he would be remembered for what he had done for his local community back in Illinois. “I like to see a man and woman proud of the place in which they live. I like to see a man and woman who live in a way, so that their community will be proud of them.”

In 2008, let’s all work and pledge to not only succeed in our personal and professional lives, spending more time with our families, but live our lives in a way that, in President Lincoln’s words,”...so that their community will be proud of them,”All the best and a Happy 2008.

Most photographed Politican on Walker Report in 2007

L-R: A collage of photos of Councilwoman Diane Cibrian with Walker Report Blogger & Justice of the Peace, Pct. 2 candidate & former Balcones Heights Councilman Steve Walker, & daughter, Christina Cibrian

The most photographed "Politician of the Year" on the Walker Report during 2007 was by far and away Councilwoman Diane Cibrian. Not to be confused with "Political Person of the year" Terri Hall, Cibrian showed up on Walker Report in January and has been viewed from the time she declared for office, throughout the election in May and continues to pop up on the Walker Report as she serves her first year as a councilwoman.

Coming in at a comfortable second place showing is Councilwoman Mary Alice Cisneros.
