The NHPO is currently recruiting for the NHPO 2009 Annual Fundraiser Committee Members to spearhead this initiative. This committee will have the opportunity to craft a one-of-a-kind fundraiser for the NHPO.

As an incentive, the 1st 5 members who sign up and remain on the committe through the day of the event, will receive the following:

NHPO establishes Information Technology Think Tank

NHPO Establishes Information Technology Think Tank @ Orderup at the Colonnade, 9873 IH-10 West, Friday, July 24th, @ 7 a.m.-8 a.m.


The NHPO is proud to announce the establishment of the Information Technology (IT) Think Tank. The core group will engage in discussion, research, and development of Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology in the San Antonio community.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the NHPO Information Technology Think Tank, please email your resume and cover letter stating your interest and intended contribution to Oscar Garcia.

To qualify to become a member, you must meet one of the following criteria:
Undergraduate Degree or higher in the following disciplines: Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or Information Systems.
or
Associate Degree plus 5 years of professional experience in the IT/CS/Engineering industry.
or
No Degree, 10+ years of professional experience in the IT/CS/Engineering industry.

Mayor, Hispanic Chamber & UTSA welcome Labor Secretary

Secretary Solis to address San Antonio’s business and civic leaders @ 8:45 a.m., Monday, June 29th @ the UTSA Durango Building, Southwest Room. (1st Floor)

Mayor Julian Castro, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) will host a breakfast welcoming U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis to San Antonio.

Secretary Solis is the first Hispanic Cabinet-level appointee to this position. Key San Antonio leaders from business, education, workforce development, and government have been invited by the U.S. Secretary of Labor.

The breakfast meeting will be a high-level discussion with these stakeholders regarding San Antonio’s growing role in economic development.

Recent job growth has been attributed to a diverse workforce and a diverse economy, which is due in part to expanding industries in the biosciences/healthcare, erospace, information technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, financial services, and the visitor industries.
